I am back with more blurry photos! I haven’t had a chance to re-take most of the photos I took a couple weekends ago, and then I couldn’t bring myself to re-take these ones, because as you will see I was photo bombed in a cutest way.
I have been obsessed with the idea of making another Fen Dress ever since I saw Elena’s summer version of it. I have made the dress before and I loved it! I didn’t think I would want to make a short sleeve version, but Elena’s dress changed my mind in an instant.
I used my first dress experience as the take off point, and rather than taking 1″ off at the sides, I took it off the center front fold. With the first dress I felt like the neckline was a little too wide on me anyways and I figured this adjustment would take care of two issues at once.
The only other change was that I hemmed the dress a little shorter than the pattern intended it to be. In hindsight I should have hemmed it longer, as I feel like it is just a tad too short for my liking. My preferences change so fast! I really liked this length in winter and now it feels too short.
Other than the two changes above, I didn’t make any other modifications to the pattern. It is a great pattern! And I was pleasantly surprised again by how easy it was to sew.
The fabric came from Blackbird Fabrics. It is a mid weight linen viscose which is currently sold out. Caroline had a nice selection of linens this summer and this fabric was lovely. It was easy to sew with and so comfortable to wear!
I have a huge smile on my face is because I saw Misha wobbling over to me wiggling her bum. She does that all the time when she sees us or wants to say hi to someone new. I love her bum wiggles and I hope she never grows out of them!
Here is another pup picture, because why not?
I am very happy with the dress and I want to wear it all the time. It is so easy to throw on and look instantly put together! Linen makes it a perfect summer dress. I didn’t expect that I would love the short sleeve so much, so I am pondering making a top version of this pattern as well as another dress for the coming fall season.
